SCCA Solo 2
These are a few pictures I took at the Equipe Rapide 2 day Autocross event at the MineralRing in Mineral Wells, TX. on 11/06/04 and 11/07/04. There are 715 pictures!!! This was probably the most fun I have ever had at an Autocross. The weather was perfect, the car was running great after the repairs/enhancements (and after some minor “shakedown” issues – Thanks to Larry Everitt at Pro Tape Signs for letting me co-drive and Ken Cryder at Bottle Brigade Racing for his help on the repairs/enhancements), the course was a blast (though I think the course, reversed on Sunday, was more fun to drive and had a better “flow” than on Saturday), I drove like a manic and learned a lot of new things about driving the RX7 on wide open courses, I managed to spin 4 times during my 1st 3 runs on Saturday learning the car!!! I finally got a clean run on my 4th, but my times were pretty slow. Sunday was much better as I only spun once all day on 6 runs. And, I managed to shave off about 4 and 1/2 seconds from the lead that Larry was consistently ahead of me by on Saturday. I also got a ton of pretty good pics and had a great time with all the folks during the entire weekend. The Pizza Party Saturday night was delicious! And the Subs for lunch on Sunday hit the spot. Hope everyone enjoyed the festivities, the weekend, the entire racing season and will join us at the Equipe Rapide Christmas Party – details soon on the ER website.
The yearend drawing for the tire giveaway from Discount Tire (Todd Eaddy), Kumho Tires and Hoosier Tires was held on Sunday at the end of the day. Bob Neff (AS black ‘Vette) won the Kumho tires and Robert Jones (DSP red Miata) won the buy 2 get 2 free Hoosier tires. If you need tires, please call Todd @ 972 691 8533 and mention that you autocross and he will get you a great deal! I know, because I just called him today to get tires for one of my cars and he took great care of me! Todd also mentioned that there may be a 3rd tire maker coming on board to give away tires as part of this program, so make sure you have the stickers on your car at the events and you fill out the cards to make sure you are in the drawing for the tires next year!!! Thanks again Todd!!!
